time to get dressed up!
Getting into character.
As RWW Greene stated so eloquently, we do it every day. Whether your day job is teacher, banker, fireman, or writer, you wear some sort of costume in life. I frequently find myself jumping out of bed in the morning to whip out my cape and tights as “Supermom”. I don’t actually wear a cape, but there are days when I think it would be a sufficient punishment if I showed up to “rescue” my kids wearing a cape and a big blue painter’s tape M emblazoned across my chest.
Maybe one day.
But I’m not really talking about our everyday characters right now. I’m talking about the fun characters we play in life.
Admit it…You’ve been caught driving down the road (maybe stopped at a red light?) singing at the top of your lungs to your favorite song on the radio. You may not have been grasping a hairbrush in both hands, but you were probably staring at your reflection in the rearview mirror. Don’t try to deny it! I saw you…or someone just like you…playing “rock star” during the rush hour.
It may have been several decades ago, but I still remember slipping into my mother’s powder blue pumps to pretend I was one of Charlie’s Angels. (As embarrassing as it might be, I really wish Mom had taken pictures of that.) Trust me, if I could find those pumps (if I could even squeeze my feet into them now), and the cheap plastic cap gun (the one that smelled like an entire book of matches had just gone up in smoke) I would be playing again while no one was looking.
What I’m saying is I know, just below the surface, we all have a desire to play dress up.
That’s why I have decided to extend the Daywalkers Getting into Character contest…because, in the back of your mind, I know you want to play…I certainly do.
Basically, either take a picture of yourself dressed up as your favorite character, or take a picture of someone else posing as your favorite character. You can win a $25 Amazon gift card in each of the three categories. I can’t wait to see your pictures!
Until the next time…I’ll be grabbing my hairbrush and singing into the bathroom mirror!
