"Making the world a better place, one book at a time."

sucking the life out of me

I’m talking about vampires, of course.

And when I say sucking the life out of me, I don’t mean in a literal sense, but rather a literary one.

click for Daywalker linksWhen I started writing, the Tales of the Daywalkers, it was meant to be a stand alone entry, done on a dare. I was challenged to write a short story with a vampire main character. Little did I know she would take on a life of her own, and latch on to so many others in the process.

Enter Victoria…

Very little known trivia, when Victoria entered the picture her name was actually Vampira…the name didn’t stick, thank goodness! And by week two, her back story had yet to be written, but Victoria was well on her way to being the strong, snarky vampire we all know and love.

And by we, I also mean Claude and Sebastian…our two other resident vampires.

But of course, Claude wasn’t always a vampire. He was Victoria’s trusty sidekick…er…manservant. Always quick with the witty one-liners. Always willing to drive a stake into Victoria’s long estranged husband, Sebastian. But it didn’t take more than a few episodes…and one hungry vampire…to change poor Claude. For the better, I might add.

And what about Sebastian? Sure he’s sexy…dangerous…and very undead. But he’s also come to town in the daylight…with a secret…and searching for the mysterious amulet he left in Victoria’s care.

This is where the story begins to get exciting.

I suppose I should have called this volume of the story, The Quest for the Amulet…and maybe I’ll pull a George Lucas and change it for the published version…but I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself here.

Wait…what? You didn’t know this part of the story was only volume one? Did you really think I would leave you hanging, with only one episode to go and I wasn’t going to explain Anne? Or Catherine? Or Victoria’s mother? You didn’t really think that did you?

No…I didn’t think so.

So if you haven’t caught up on the Tales of the Daywalkers…if you haven’t discovered how Elton John fits into the story…or what this magical amulet does…or how Claude knows Sebastian…or how he ended up with Victoria anyway…I think you’d better get reading. You have 29 weeks worth of episodes to read before next week. And hey, I might even toss in a bonus or two this week…I think we’re due for one.

Don’t you?

Until the next time…I’ll be looking for a few bites in the comment section…come on…take a bite!
